News Channel Host
I was a news channel host, gaining experience in presenting on camera and collaborating with a co-host, which later inspired me to start my own media clubs on campus.
Before I ventured into founding the Newspaper Club and News Channel at GEMS American Academy Qatar, one of my teachers convinced me and a friend to become the hosts of a school news channel. At first, it sounded like just a fun way to pass the time, but it quickly became much more than that. We weren’t just delivering updates to students, parents, and teachers. We were learning the art of presenting in front of a camera and mastering the smooth handoffs between each other on air, making sure there were no awkward pauses (well, most of the time).
This experience was more than just fun; it lit a spark that inspired me to create my own newspaper and news channel clubs later on. Getting in front of the camera, working with my co-host, and experiencing what it takes to engage an audience gave me the confidence and know-how to build something bigger. In a way, being a news host was like a warm-up act before the main event. And it turned out to be the stepping stone I needed to kickstart my journey into media and leadership on campus.
