SDSU LAVIN Entrepreneurship Program
I was selected for the LAVIN Entrepreneurship Program at SDSU, where I gained hands-on experience and expanded my network through workshops and entrepreneurial activities.
The LAVIN Entrepreneurship Program at San Diego State University isn’t just your typical extracurricular. It’s a gateway for entrepreneurial-minded students to dive into hands-on learning, network across campus, and receive mentorship from top innovators. Known as LAVINs, participants gain access to workshops that cover everything from the fundamentals of entrepreneurship to the latest tools like AI and social media marketing strategies. Each student is paired with a mentor, providing career guidance and insight into the startup world’s inner workings.
Getting into the program isn’t as simple as sending in an application. I had to submit a video pitch, selling my story and entrepreneurial drive. Out of 100 to 200 applicants each year, only about 30 to 40 are selected. Being one of those chosen few was both a thrill and a testament to my abilities. One of the highlights of the program was meeting my mentor, Ms. Shirley Yager. Ms. Shirley is an incredible woman and an even better mentor, providing guidance and support as I navigate the world of entrepreneurship.
The program gave me the opportunity to grow alongside a cohort of like-minded peers, build a network across campus, and develop a startup mindset. It wasn’t just about attending workshops. It was about becoming part of a community focused on innovation and turning ideas into reality.
